Robert D. “Bobby” Carlisle Jr.

   Robert D. “Bobby” Carlisle Jr. was the middleweight boxing champion of Ohio in the 1940’s. Carlisle’s grandparents, James C. Carlisle and the former Elizabeth Donaldson, were married in Scotland on December 31, 1872.  their son, Robert Donaldson Carlisle I, was born November 25, 1876. In 1893, they came to the United States and Robert married Bertha Leona Stoecklin in 1896. They were the parents of James Copper Carlisle, Emma Elizabeth Carlisle Harmon, Elizabeth Donaldson Carlisle Snyder, William Stocklin Carlisle, Bertha Leona Carlisle Kutz, Anna Laurie Carlisle Briggs, Rebecca Frances Carlisle Clerici, Roberta Margaret Carlisle Warner and Robert Donaldson Carlisle, Jr.
    Robert D. Carlisle Jr. resided near the former Carlisle Canoe Center along St. Rt. 416 as did many of his family members.
